Typewritten letter dated December 4, 1952. On light-weight paper. Watercolor drawing approx.: 10 x 13 cm (3.9 x 5.1 in). Sheet: 27,5 x 21,5 cm (10,8 x 8,4 in).
Letter to Tekla Hess. [EH].
• Letter with “Ghostie” drawing.
• Papileo is Feininger’s nickname, used by his friends and family.
• Feinginer’s “Ghosties” were neither exhibited nor sold, but given away exclusively as gifts.
• Works by Lyonel Feinginer are held in numerous major international collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Centre Pompidou, Paris; the Städel Museum, Frankfurt am Main; and the Sprengel Museum, Hanover

PROVENANCE: Private collection, Southern Germany.

In good condition. The sheet of paper, which is the size of an envelope, is folded in thirds and has some slight creases from the handling. On the reverse side, along the right edge of the sheet, small traces of old mounting show through to the recto
