Signed and dated in Roman numerals on the lower right of the bangle. Dated and inscribed on the reverse. 39 x 20 cm (15.3 x 7.8 in). [AW].
Full proceeds will go to the Pohlen-Bautz-Holzherr-Foundation.
• Surreal and difficult-to-decipher imagery rendered in the style of the Old Masters is characteristic of the Japanese artist's work.
• Stylistically, Shinji Himeno is close to magical realism and the Leipzig School.
• Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Arik Brauer, one of the leading representatives of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism.
PROVENANCE: Schwind Gallery, Frankfurt am Main.
Collection of Prof. Dr. Manfred Pohlen and Dr. Margarethe Bautz-Holzherr, Marburg (acquired from the above in 2008).
In good condition. Minimal wear to the corners of the image. The condition report was prepared in daylight and with the aid of a UV light source to the best of our knowledge and belief.
