Oil on fibreboard.
Monogrammed and dated lower right. Signed and dated on the reverse. 24 x 33 cm (9.4 x 12.9 in). [AW].
Full proceeds will go to the Pohlen-Bautz-Holzherr-Foundation.
PROVENANCE: Collection of Prof. Dr. Manfred Pohlen and Dr. Margarethe Bautz-Holzherr, Marburg.
EXHIBITION: Frans Masereel, Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts, Antwerp, June/July 1958, cat. no. 58.
LITERATURE: Pierre Vorms, Masereel. Catalogue Raisonné, Antwerp 1976, CR no. 873 (peintures à l'huile).
In good condition. Small loss of wood in the center of the right edge of the image. Rubbing along the edges of the image, with small areas of color loss in places. Partially retouched by a professional. The condition report was prepared in daylight and with the aid of a UV light source to the best of our knowledge and belief.
