Signed, numbered, and titled “K.Z.Z.P.” in barely legible hand in the lower right corner. From an edition of 6 copies numbered in Roman numerals. 145 x 118 cm (57 x 46.4 in). [JS].
• Painting emotions of his chest: Kluge is a master of psychologically charged figuration.
• Kluge’s series “Contact Between Two Populations” symbolizes the existential themes of attraction and distance, of separation and connection.
• In 2012, the Wilhelm Hack Museum in Ludwigshafen presented the major retrospective “Gustav Kluge. Egocinema”.
PROVENANCE: Galerie Rudolf Zwirner, Cologne.
Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia (acquired from the above in 1989).
In good condition. Only two small tears along the top edge.Due to the manufacturing process, there are crease marks and paper damage, as well as a few small holes, the edges are also irregularly cut, which is inherent to the work. Not unframed for cataloging.
