Signed and inscribed with the work number “1854,” as well as bearing the stamp of the Feininger Estate, with the handwritten inscription “G.W. No. 162.”. On thin tissue paper. 12 x 12.6 cm (4.7 x 4.9 in). Sheet: 19 x 25 cm (7,4 x 9,8 in).

• The artist’s most significant prints were created during his intensive creative years between 1918 and 1920, and his first woodcuts in 1918.
• Feininger taught himself the technique of woodcut and is considered one of the masters of this medium today.
• In the year of its creation, Feininger met Walter Gropius; a year later, he was appointed to teach at the Weimar Bauhaus.
• In the family’s possession for nearly 50 years

In good condition. The pink tissue paper shows mount staining. Slight discoloration along the edges. Numerous very faint creases, particularly along the outer edges.
