Signed in the lower right. Inscribed "Akt" and "205" by a hand other than that of the artist on the reverse. 34 x 26 cm (13.3 x 10.2 in), the full sheet.
Verso with the artist's estate stamp and the hand-written number "205". [AR].

PROVENANCE: Private collection, Northern Germany.

LITERATURE: Vera Thiel, Fritz Schaefler 1888-1954. Im Spannungsfeld des Expressionismus. Malerei und Grafik, Ausstellungskat. mit Werkverzeichnis, Wuppertal 1996, CR no. 311.

Good, vibrant overall impression. Various pinholes in the margins and a few in the image. Slightly browned with a few tiny brown spots. However, the brownish coloration and edges are likely due to the watercolor paint and are therefore inherent to the work. A small, inconspicuous loss of color in the upper right corner at shoulder height.
