Oil on canvas.
Lower left monogrammed and dated. Titled and inscribed "Blumen" on the reverse of the stretcher. 44.6 x 38.8 cm (17.5 x 15.2 in). [KA].
• Atmospheric flower still life with a mystical aura.
• His poetic paintings made Böttger a key artist of Magic Realism.
• His works are at, among others, the Stadtmuseum, Düsseldorf and the Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo.
PROVENANCE: Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia (acquired in 1986, Karbstein & Schultze).
Ever since family-owned.
LITERATURE: Karbstein & Schultze, Düsseldorf, Auktion Gemälde, Graphik, Dec.12, 1986, lot 17 (illu. in color).
In good condition. Margins minimally soiled and rubbed. Spots of isolated craquelure. The condition report was compiled in daylight with the use of a UV light source and to the best of our knowledge and belief.
