Flowers (Hand-Colored). 1974.
Silkscreen, with watercolor.
Monogrammed in the lower right. Signed, dated, and numbered on the reverse, along with the copyright stamp. One of 250 copies, each of which is considered a unique work due to its hand-coloring. On J. Green wove paper (with watermark). 103.1 x 69.1 cm (40.5 x 27.2 in), size of sheet.
Printed by Alexander Heinrici, New York. Published by Peter M. Brant, Castelli Graphics, and Multiples, Inc., New York (stamped on the reverse with “© Copyright by Andy Warhol Multiples Inc. & Castelli Graphics 2, 1974”).
The “Flowers (Hand-Colored)” portfolio is the only series in which the individual sheets are hand-colored, as seen in Andy Warhol’s early hand-colored books. Each sheet is therefore considered a unique piece. [KA].
• The delicate hand-coloring gives the work its unique character.
