Signed, dated, and numbered. From an edition of 60 copies. On BFK Rives wove paper (with the watermark). 68.5 x 54.2 cm (26.9 x 21.3 in). Sheet: 90,5 x 75,2 cm (35,6 x 29,6 in).

• Using the sophisticated linework and shadowing of the aquatint technique, David Hockney creates a portrait of masterful draftsmanship.
• David Hockney is not only a great painter but also an outstanding printmaker.
• This portrait depicts Celia Birtwell, the wife of Hockney’s longtime friend, the fashion designer Ossie Clark.

PROVENANCE: Private collection, Southern Germany (acquired from Galerie Tanit, Munich, in 1981).
In the family’s possession ever since.

In good condition. A faint crease in the center of the upper edge, which has since smoothed out, visible only in oblique light. Very few, tiny handling marks in places. Isolated tiny brown spots, as well as a tiny mold spot on the lower left edge.
