Landschaft bei Marseille. 1930er Jahre.
Oil on canvas.
Right margin with scratched monogram and date '40' (barely legible). 65.5 x 80.5 cm (25.7 x 31.6 in). [AW].
• Kleinschmidt captures the mood of a summer afternoon in a particularly beautiful way.
• The artist spent the summer months from 1937 to 1940 with his family in the south of France.
• He made landscapes in the spirit of Paul Cézanne and Vincent van Gogh there.
• Formerly part of the renowned Erich Cohn collection, New York..
The work will be included into the revised catalogue raisonné of paintings and works on paper by Paul Kleinschmidt, currently prepared by VAN HAM ART Publications.

In good condition. Relined. With minimal craquelure in places. Isolated tiny losses in the edges. Small retouches in places, especially in the upper left area. The condition report was compiled in daylight with the help of an ultraviolet light and to the best of knowledge and belief.
