Oil on canvas.
With the stamp “Georg Scholz Waldkirch” on a handwritten label and with the estate stamp on the reverse of the stretcher . 42 x 57 cm (16.5 x 22.4 in). [EH].
PROVENANCE: Estate of the artist (1945).
Private collection Baden-Württemberg (family of the artist).
Since then in family possession.
EXHIBITION: Georg Scholz. Ein Beitrag zur Diskussion realistischer Kunst, Badischer Kunstverein e.V., Karlsruhe 1975, cat. no. 72.
LITERATURE: Felicia H. Sternfeld, Georg Scholz (1890-1945). Monographie und Werkverzeichnis, Frankfurt a. Main 2004, no. 67.
In good condition. With expertly retouched spots visible under UV light in the area of the face and ea. There are also very few small retouched spots in the upper part of the background. The condition report was compiled in daylight with the help of an ultraviolet light and to the best of knowledge. [EH]
