Stürzender Engel. 1986.
Iron cast on a stone base.
On the lower right side with the foundry mark “Flierl.” On the lower back side with a small cast plaque. 85.5 x 19 x 10.5 cm (33.6 x 7.4 x 4.1 in). Height incl. base: 126,5 cm (49,8 in).
Full proceeds will go to the Pohlen-Bautz-Holzherr-Foundation. [AW].
• The human torso is the central element in Werner Stötzer's sculptural work.
• Stötzer studied sculpture in Weimar, Dresden, and Berlin, where he was a master student of Gustav Seitz at the Academy of Arts.
• Works by Werner Stötzer can be found in the State Art Collections in Dresden and the New National Gallery in Berlin, among other places.
The sculpture is listed in the catalog of sculptures by Werner Stötzer on the website of Private Artists' Estates Brandenburg under catalog number 206.

Collection of Prof. Dr. Manfred Pohlen and Dr. Margarethe Bautz-Holzherr, Marburg (acquired from the above in 1996).
In good condition. Some dirt in places in the recesses. Occasional slight rubbing. Some oxidation in places and very few small rust spots. The base has a break on the upper edge at the back.
