Peter Stauss
1966
Music of the past. 2006.
Mixed media. Oil and gouache on cardboard, two parts.
Signed and dated in the lower right. 216 x 150 cm (85 x 59 in).
[AR].
• Fragmented realities: Peter Stauss negotiates existential themes on a grand stage in a powerful synthesis of figuration and abstraction, humans and animals, melancholy and expressiveness.
• Ambiguous, fable-like imagery in a vibrant color palette are considered the trademark of this contemporary German artist.
• His works can be found in renowned public and private collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Hall Art Foundation.
PROVENANCE: Galerie Crone, Berlin.

Good overall impression. Both cardboard elements slightly warped, probably due to the material or mounting. Especially in the yellow of the upper part of the picture with craquelure and paint flaking in places, as well as small areas of paint loss. Described unframed. Size with frame: 223 x 157 cm.
