Fülliger Torso. 1994.
Bronze with brown patina on a sandstone base.
Inscribed with the details of the work in typography on a label on the underside of the base. Unique work. Incl. base: 35 x 15 x 12 cm (13.7 x 5.9 x 4.7 in). [AW].
Full proceeds will go to the Pohlen-Bautz-Holzherr-Foundation.
• The expressive representation of the human form is a central element in Karl-Heinz Appelt's sculptural work.
• Works by the artist can be found in the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin, and in the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen, Dresden, among others.
PROVENANCE: Galerie Schwind, Frankfurt a. Main.
Collection of Prof. Dr. Manfred Pohlen and Dr. Margarethe Bautz-Holzherr, Marburg (acquired from the above in 2010).
In good condition. Some dirt in the recesses and slight oxidation in places. The surface is somewhat uneven. The sculpture and base have some yellowish wax residue.
