• Maetzel-Johannsen was a co-founder of the Hamburg Secession and a leading female exponent of Expressionism.
• A wonderful interplay of wood grain, motif, and color.
• Fresh on the market: From the artist’s estate.
• The long-overdue rediscovery and appreciation of her work began with the exhibitions “Einfühlung und Abstraktion. Die Moderne der Frauen in Deutschland” in 2016 and “Ein Künstlerpaar der Moderne: Emil Maetzel und Dorothea Maetzel-Johannsen” in 2019
.

PROVENANCE: From the artist’s estate.

Overall in good condition. There is a horizontal restoration mark running down the center. Very isolated retouching.
The condition report was compiled in daylight with the aid of a UV light source, and to the best of our knowledge and belief.
