Mixed media. Painted over a lithograph by H. Micheaux.
Signed in the lower right. Unique object. 32 32 x 45.5 cm (12.5 x 17.9 in), size of sheet.
• Arnulf Rainer infuses the lithograph with new energy by overpainting it.
• From the the important Austrian artist's series ‘Fossilien’ (Fossils). - Overpainting is still considered the central principle in Arnulf Rainer's work and an art-historically significant contribution to European post-war art.
• Arnulf Rainer is considered one of the most important artists of the Austrian post-war avant-garde.

In good condition. All in all slightly discolored. Slightly faded around the mounting spots on the reverse.
