Lot description
Berg im Allgäu. 1924.
Brush and India ink and reed pen.
Lower right signed and dated, titled in lower left. On laid paper. 53 x 41.7 cm (20.8 x 16.4 in), the full sheet. [CH].
• A particularly dynamic drawing that brings the special atmosphere of the majestic mountain landscape to life.
• In the year of its creation, Heckel's landscape depictions show the Allgäu, Mittenwald and the Karwendel mountains.
• In the 1920s, Heckel succeeded in establishing himself in the German museum landscape, his works found their way into public collections and he even participated in the selection committee for the Kronprinzenpalais in Berlin.
The work is registered in the Erich Heckel Estate, Hemmenhofen on Lake Constance. We are grateful to Mrs. Renate Ebner and Mr. Hans Geissler for their kind support in cataloging this lot.
