Georg W. Költzsch (ed.), Matschinsky-Denninghoff. Monographie und Werkverzeichnis der Plastiken, Cologne, 1992, CR no. 685 (illu). Scratched monogram and date "M-D 92" on the base. Unique object. Height excl. base: 49.5 cm (19.4 in). Base: 35 x 35

• Theseus, famous hero of Greek mythology, was the slayer of the Minotaur.
• Bold shift in focus.
• From the sculpture group “Fügungen” (Coincidences), in which the tube sections only touch each other.
PROVENANCE: Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia (2006 Lempertz, family-owned ever since).
LITERATURE: Kunsthaus Lempertz, 897th auction, November 20, 2006, lot 764.
In good condition. A few isolated, tiny areas of color adhesion.
