Assemblage. Boxing gloves, textiles, wood, organic material.
Signed, dated, titled and with the inventory number and labels on the reverse. 71 x 67.5 x 25 cm (27.9 x 26.5 x 9.8 in).

• After Marcel Duchamp, Spoerri is one of the most important object artists.
• His assemblages and so-called "trap pictures" secured him an unmistakable place in avant-garde art.
• Together with Yves Klein, Arman and Jean Tinguely, he founded the pioneering group "Nouveaux Réalistes" in Paris in 1960.
• He has won several art awards, including the Grand Prix de la sculpture in Paris in 1993, in 2009 the Michelangelo Prize and in 2016 the Lovis Corinth Prize.
• Spoerri's works can be found in important international collections of contemporary art, such as the Musée National d'Art Moderne, Centre Georges Pompidou, the Museum Ludwig, Cologne, the Moderna Museet, Stockholm, the Tate Gallery, London and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
