Leuchtturm am Hafen (Port-Vendres). 1926.
Watercolor on paper.
Signed, dated and titled "Leuchtturm am Hafen" in lower right. On Johann Wilhelm wove paper (with the watermark). 54.2 x 64.3 cm (21.3 x 25.3 in), the full sheet.

• Made during a trip to France in 1926 during which the artist found inspiration for spontaneous yet confident watercolors.
• As of the late 1920s, Heckel increasingly devoted himself to landscapes, both in Germany and on his travels throughout Europe.
• Together with Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff and Fritz Bleyl, Erich Heckel was a founding member of the artist group "Brücke" in 1905.

In good condition. The upper margin slightly irregular from the making. Unobtrusive handling creases in the lower half of the sheet.
