Signed and numbered. Verso with the copyright stamp "Andy Warhol 1984". From an edition of 250 copies. On light board. 76.1 x 55.9 cm (29.9 x 22 in), the full sheet.
Printed by Rupert Jasen Smith, New York. Published by Dr. Frank Braun, Düsseldorf. [AW].
• Homage to the icons of art history: Warhol takes up motifs from the Old Masters and gives them a new pop-cultural presence through bright color contrasts and serial transformations.
• Warhol uses the painting “Saint Apollonia” from the workshop of Piero della Francesca, now in the National Gallery in Washington, D.C., as a template for this motif.
• As proof of her martyrdom, she presents a broken tooth with pliers.
• Most recently, the master of pop art was honored in the exhibition “Andy Warhol & Keith Haring. Party of Life” at the Museum Brandhorst in Munich.

In very good condition, like fresh from the press. There is a tiny adhesion in the lower right corner of the sheet.
