Letter with Watercolor and India ink.
The letter is signed “Papileo” and dated “August 9, 1953” in type. Drawing dimensions: approx.: 10 x 11 cm (3.9 x 4.3 in). Size of letter: 27,5 x 21,5 cm (10,8 x 8,4 in).

• Letter with “Ghostie” drawing.
• Papileo is Feininger’s nickname, used by his friends and family.
Feingener’s “Ghosties” were neither exhibited nor sold, but given away exclusively as gifts.
• Works by Lyonel Feingener are held in numerous major international collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Centre Pompidou, Paris; the Städel Museum, Frankfurt am Main; and the Sprengel Museum, Hanover.

PROVENANCE: Private collection, Southern Germany (1971, Galerie Wolfgang Ketterer)
In the family’s possession ever since.

In good condition. The thin stationery has been folded several times. The edges are slightly creased, and the corners of the pages are slightly dented in places.
