Entwurfszeichnungen für Ex libris (10 Bll.). Um 1906/1918.
Pencil drawings (9), of which four with India ink, and an in pen drawing.
One sheet monogrammed, dated, and stamped “MK”; another sheet stamped “MK". On different types of paper. Up to 18.2 x 12.3 cm (7.1 x 4.8 in), each size of sheet.
Each mounted on a lined backing sheet. Including for: Woldemar von Dietel, Paul Leopold Friedrich, Walter Giesecke (2), Richard Graul, Hildegard Heyne, Oscar Leuschner, Fritz and Marie Nachod. [EH].
• Max Klinger's ex-libris work is highly regarded.
• These ex-libris designs show his deep engagement with his respective clients.
• In his designs, he combines antiquity, Christianity, and myth.
PROVENANCE: Private collection Günter Förg.
In good condition. The sheets are slightly irregularly trimmed, some with slight creases and studio marks. Some of the sheets are firmly mounted on a backing sheet at specific points in the corners.
