Place de la Concorde en hiver. Wohl um 1900.
Pencil and gouache.
Signed in the lower left. On grayish wove paper. 22.1 x 32.5 cm (8.7 x 12.7 in), the full sheet. [AW].
• Eugène Galien-Laloue is known for his detailed and lively depictions of Paris during the Belle Époque.
• He focuses primarily on architecture, street scenes, and bustling activity, mainly in autumn or winter.
• Galien Laloue's works can be found in the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, among other places.
PROVENANCE: Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia.
LITERATURE: Sotheby's New York, October 31, 1985, lot 183.
In good condition. Slightly rubbed and slightly faded in places along the outer edges of the image. Mounting tape on the upper edge of the sheet on the reverse, minimally visible on the recto.
