Lower right monogrammed and dated. Signed and titled "2 Mann m. rot. Weste" on the reverse. On heavy paper. 60.8 x 47.8 cm (23.9 x 18.8 in), the full sheet.

• In the early 1920s, his works became more vivid in color and expression.
• From the collection of Dr. Johannes Schürer, since then in family ownership; offered on the international auction market for the first time

Accompanied by a written confirmation of authenticity by the Christian Rohlfs Archive at Osthaus Museum, Hagen, from May 11, 2026.

PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. Johannes Schürer, Mülheim an der Ruhr (stamped on the mount, acquired from the artist).
Family-owned ever since.

LITERATURE: Probably: Paul Vogt, Christian Rohlfs. Aquarelle und Zeichnungen, Recklinghausen 1958, CR no. 1922/6 (here titled "Der Spießbürger").

In good condition. Slightly wavy due to the technique used, with a few creases. Small pinholes in the corners of the sheets (due to studio conditions).
