Lydia Becker. 1931.
Pencil drawing.
Signed and dated in the lower right. On slightly yellow J. W. Zanders laid paper (with the watermark). Ca. 73.5 x 53 cm (28.9 x 20.8 in), the full sheet.
[AR].
PROVENANCE: Dr. Heinrich Becker Collection, Bielefeld.
Private collection, Madrid.
Collection North Rhine-Westphalia.
EXHIBITION: Bilder einer Sammlung. 50 Jahre Kunsthalle Bielefeld, September 29, 2018 - February 24, 2019.
LITERATURE: Vita von Wedel, P. A. Böckstiegel. Werkverzeichnis der Pastelle, Aquarelle und Zeichnungen, Bielefeld 2001, CR no. Z324 (illustrated on p. 276).
In good condition. With isolated small brown spots and foxing, as well as soiling and studio marks. The pencil is slightly smudged in places, but this is probably due to the manufacturing process. Small tears along the edges of the sheet, especially on the right, some of which have been professionally repaired. A few small paper tears, such as at the bottom left, but these are almost only visible against the light.
