Watercolor over black chalk.
Signed (partly in ligature) and dated in the lower right. Signed, dated, titled, and inscribed with the artist's address on the reverse of the backing board. On firm, structured wove paper, originally laid on a backing cardboard. 50.2 x 65.5 cm (19.7 x 25.7 in), the full sheet. Backing cardboard: 59,1 x 74,8 cm (23,3 x 29,4 in).

• In 1949, Pechstein spent the summer months in Ückeritz on the penninsula of Usedom, where the hay harvest inspired him to create a small series of paintings.
• In 1952, the artist translated this large-format composition in clear, bold colors into a painting (“Harvest,” Soika 1952/10).

Large-format composition with intense colors, and in very good condition. Small pinholes in the corners of the sheet, resulting from the making. Isolated, very faint signs of rubbing, only visible in strong grazing light. The sheet is mounted on a backing cardboard.
