Numbered and inscribed "I 116" on the stand, with the embossing stamps "Madoura plein feu" and "Empreinte originale de Picasso". From an edition of 100 copies. 32.5 x 39.5 cm (12.7 x 15.5 in). [KA].
• Humorous and fascinating plate by arguably the most famous artist of the 20th century.
• His plate-sized works form what is probably the most extensive subgroup within his ceramic oeuvre.
• Although Picasso only learned the technique late in life, he produced an extensive and highly diverse group of works in Vallauris in the south of France from 1946/47 onwards.
