Spanische Tänzerin. 1951.
Bronze with brown patina.
Plinth with the artist's signet and the number. Lifetime cast. One of 14 Roman numbered copies (deviating from the eleven Roman numbered copies mentioned in the catalogue raisonné). 31 cm (12.2 in).
Cast in 1977 by the art foundry Barth, Rinteln (with the foundry mark). [CH].
• In the same year, Marcks created the " Town Musicians of Bremen", one of the city's landmarks.
• Marcks incorporated impressions gathered during his trip to Spain in 1949 into this work. He also created the lithograph "Spanisches Tänzerpaar" and the woodcut "La Farucca".
• Part of a Northern German private collection for over 40 years.
