Bad Boys. 1991.
Acrylic on canvas.
Signed and dated in the lower right. Once more signed and dated as well as titled on the reverse. 200 x 150 cm (78.7 x 59 in). [AW].
• Expressive work in Salomé's typical style.
• The artist associates the color gold with splendor, wealth, power and holiness.
• Along with Rainer Fetting, Salomé was one of the co-founders of the “Neue Wilden” (New Fauves) in the late 1970s.
• Participation in the 1982 documenta 7 in Kassel and the Venice Biennale.
• Salomé's works are in possession of internationally renowned museums, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Francisco, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Kunstmuseum Basel and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
PROVENANCE: Private collection Southern Germany.
EXHIBITION: Salomé "1992". Arbeiten auf Leinwand, Galerie Lietzow, Berlin, May 10 - June 6, 1992 (illustrated in color on the cover of the flyer).
LITERATURE: Künstlerhaus Berlin, Paul Corazolla (ed.), Farbe Gold. Dekor, Metapher, Symbol. Beweggründe für Malerei heute, Berlin 1992, p. 109 (illustrated).
In good condition, colors in fine impression. Slightly rubbed in the outer corners of the image. The condition report was compiled in daylight and with the help of a UV light source to the best of our knowledge and belief.
