• With authenticity and sensitivity, the artist depicts the lives of prostitutes and everyday life in the “maisons closes,” the brothels of Paris.
• Other copies can be found in public museum collections, including The Art Institute, Chicago, and the Graphische Sammlung, Munich.

Good overall impression. Backed with delicate Japan paper for stabilization. Overall browned, with mount staining, which slightly diminishes the color effect. Small, isolated spots of various kinds, such as water stains in the upper left, scattered small brown spots, or light spots in the lower left. Small pinholes are visible in backlight. Two tiny creases in the upper two corners of the sheet and a small tear in the upper right margin. The edges of the sheet are slightly irregularly trimmed.
