Drypoint.
Signed. The catalogue raisonné lists 18 copies, 14 of which are in public collections. On wove paper. 17.8 x 23.9 cm (7 x 9.4 in). Sheet: 32 x 45,3 cm (12,5 x 17,8 in).
Gustav Schiefler and Sigurd Willoch date the drypoint engraving to 1913, while inscriptions indicate that it was created in Paris in January 1914. [AW].
• Finely modulated and delicate etching of high emotional expressiveness.
• Hardly any other artist has created such expressive prints as Edvard Munch.
• Further prints can be found in important museum collections, including the Munch Museum, Oslo, the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, the Kupferstichkabinett der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin, the Tel Aviv Art Museum, and the Kunsthalle Hamburg.
