• With concise lines, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff depicts his wife Emy reading.
• Banned from painting since 1941, he created small-format, colorful masterpieces in the seclusion of rural solitude.
• Only a few works from this period have survived; many were destroyed in 1945
.

The work is documented in the archive of the Karl and Emy Schmidt-Rottluff Foundation, Berlin.
